A Day at the Zoo

We started our outing at 10.30 in the morning last school holidays. By the time we enter the zoo (after buying tickets and all) it was already almost 11.00 o'clock. Faiz, Farhana & Rushaidi are all eager to look at tigers, giraffes and gorillas!!! (don't know why gorillas of all the animals - must be Disney's movie Tarzan influenced Farhana).

My hubby and me thot that it would be wise to got onto the tramp available at the gate entrance to have overview of the zoo first. But not even halfway when we got to the Flamingos' area my Farhana was all too excited to look at tigers, crocodile and foremost the GORILLA (oh yeah ... not again!!) Whining for us to get off the tramp so we can have a close up view of the animals. NO sorry dear that's what their 'abah' told them, be patient.

Here we were watching the Bird, Seal and Orang Utan shows. It was entertaining and very cute performance by the animals. However, because it was 11.00 o'clock (almost noon) the weather was kind of hot and too sunny!! Nevertheless, the kids and even the 'Bibik' had fun watching the cute performance by the animals and their trainers!!
Here we go, at the far back is a crocodile resting. See Rushaidi is all excited to see the croc!! Luckily it was not in action like eating an ayam or anything ... otherwise this boy will be even more excited!! I suppose he is more excited than Faiz or Farhana because it was his 1st time visiting the zoo and actually looking at the animals live. Normally, he sees these wild animals only on Disney or Discovery Channels.
We ended our visit at 2.00 pm, after roughly spending three hours looking at the animals (or is it the other way round...;)). By that time, the kids were all begging to go home coz too tired already. It was a fun outing to go to the zoo. Overall, Zoo Negara looks much better now compared to years ago during the last time I visited them. Not much of litters lying around but one thing for sure the visitors are all generous lot coz they feed whatever food they eat to the animals despite of the warning not to. Maybe Malaysians need to be educated that such generous act is actually harmful to the animals as they can get sick. Perhaps the Zoo Negara can also commercialize it by selling animal food in small packets near the respective cages. The end will be a win-win situation - visitors get to feed the animals, animals not only get to eat their proper food but also won't get stomach pain out of it.
